to the household of god, israel, and all those who go with... may you all have peace!.

there has been much debate over the location from where my lord and his co-kings/priests rule.

some say "on" the earth.

Really! 144,000 kings a & priests. How on earth, or not on earth in this case, can this small planet have so many kings? There can't be that many thrones in heaven. They will be little more than mayors while the Jehovah and Jesus coalition really decide everything. The top jobs will go to those millions of angels. Those that haven't fallen that is.

In any case after 1000 years they will all be made redundant. What will they do then - Get a paper round? Has anyone actually thought this through. Perhaps they will have to take their turn stoking up the fires in hell and inflicting eternal torment on the wicked. Now that sound like a real job for these hot-shots.

I'll stick with my job in the Colosseum thanks. Gladiators will always be sought after.

The revolving door and the hardcore ones

i understand that the number of people who join the wt is roughly equal to the number of people who leave.

there's a small difference, overall, but in some countries the number of those leaving might even be slightly above the number of those joining.

and this has been a problem for ever.. i would like some insight into the minds of those who stay in, not because of family reasons, not because of fear, old age, parental control, but because they really believe the scam.

Have you noticed how these new world pictures are always spiced up with attractive women? How could any man live for eternity and not be tempted to try a new fruit? The women will of course have a problem resisting all those perfect youthful men. As for the gay men, sorry I won't be there - and according to the Watchtower, neither will you!

I have reserved a first class place with the devil, where I will be made to sin until I grow bored, in the hope that I shall beg to be taken to a kingdom hall and mentally regulated in the ways of Jehovah. It won't work. I will show the devil what wicked really means.

If the bible is god's handbook for man, why is it such gobbledegook?

i don't mean the basic moral code of behavior (that many non biblical lands also just happen to have) that people use to model their lives, but the 'deeper' stuff.... assuming that god has had his divine plan for vindicating himself etc ever since he figured that adam may screw up, and he needed to let faithful mankind know the 'plan' and how to survive it all.... why is the important stuff all gobbledegook?.

the time frame, prophecy, signs and so on are all so obscure that even the cleverest theologians can't understand it or agree on it.

the 'truth' is so muddled and juggled up that every understanding can be logically challenged with an equally challengable one.

I think that most people now realize that the bible is a collection of stores, parables, history, speculation, prophecy, hopes and even dreams and not the inspired Word of God that it falsely claims to be. But why has this God not personaly written a book and presented it to the human race?

My Car and every appliance or gadget I buy has a handbook or user guide. The alleged creator of the human race has provided nothing. Diddly squat.

So I can only assume that there is no creator or if there is, then it has lost interest in humans. The alternative is to invent a guiding God in my mind but such a delusion is simply not viable. For those that are satisfied by this trick of the mind. Salute!

Chosen in 1919, but they didn't realize it until 1929

no, i don't have the wt articles at my fingertips.

it is the case though that it wasn't until 1929 that the wt changed their current understanding to be that they were inspected and selected in 1919 - 3 1/2 years after 1914 and christ's return to the throne.. .

wouldn't you think such an important event would have been revealed in a more obvious way?.

The Advantages of Hindsight

Whether this reference is meant to refer to the literal eye or not, there is no doubt that according to the Bible, Jesus will make himself known. The Watchtower Society overcame this discrepancy by saying that Jesus returned in a sense in 1914 to take up his presence invisibly. He then came again in 1919, also invisibly, to take the deceased members of the Society to heaven. They had originally taught that Jesus had returned in 1873.

If Jesus did return in 1914, why did no one see him? Even the Witnesses, then known as “Bible Students,” were still waiting for him to come in 1918. Not until years later in 1929, did the Society “realize” that Jesus had returned in 1914 and that they had failed to notice! Despite expecting Jesus, they missed him.

Did the Bible say that Jesus would not be noticed even by his chosen nation of Jehovah's Witnesses when he returned? "Behold, he is coming with the clouds! Every eye will see him…(Revelation 1:7 NE)

They are still waiting for his third return which will be any day now and seen by all the world.

yes instead of striking them dead he decided to flood the entire planet killing every living plant and animal {sorry peta members} which only afew years before he created declaring it "good.

" then he made a "rainbow" as a sign that never again will he destroy every living thing.. wasn't this over the top?.

too bad they forgot the poor unicorns and dinosuars though!.

Why is the bible full of tales about this Hebrew desert god slaughtering people. He allegedly, cursed all women with childbirth pains and then when they still managed to procreate, he wiped out the fruit of their loins with mass genocide, again and again.

Now we are told, in that most reliable record of earth history, the bible, that he plans to launch the mother of all attacks on humans at Armageddon. I guess this will be the culmination of his erstwhile career as a mass murderer? This is one seriously dysfunctional dude.

He also has a penchant for talking to humans through animals. Is that weird or what? This talking animal fantasy is straight out of Alice in Wonderland. Like all fictional charachters, they are entertaining but not to be taken seriously.

When the dinosaurs had fulfilled their purpose, God ended their life. But the Bible is silent on how he did that or when.

Or if! So this is just a wild guess then?

Here's a clue. Non existent gods, always are silent. I have replied to you which proves I am not a god, in case you thought otherwise.

Is the Watchtower an Apocalyptic or doomsday religion?

imo the watchtower has a strong emphasis on eschatology and is one of the most prominent of the modern apocalyptic religions.

so i found it surprising to see the watchtower never uses the word eschatology applied to itself and claims not to be an apocalyptic religion.

The Watchtower is a cheap little pamphlet that make a vast profit for the corporation that owns it. It is printed to order with a guaranteed take up of every copy. Its members buy it with their own money and then distribute most of the copies free.

This enables them to prove their love and obedience to Jehovah. They are driven by fear and greed. Fear of Jehovah and Armageddon and greed for everlasting life in Paradise. Like all religion, it's a snare and a racket. The Watchtower's very own words!
